The book as a whole continues to be “clever” and “enjoyably hair-raising,” despite the fact that the review states that the pace occasionally erred on the side of “frantic,” distracting from weaker plot points.

Charles Beckendorf approaches Percy Jackson while he is driving Rachel Dare, and the two head off to attack Luke’s ship, The Princess Andromeda, together. A spy at Camp Half-Blood doesn’t catch Kronos, who is hosted in Luke’s mortal body, and an explosion kills Beckendorf.
Later, Percy wakes up in the underwater palace of his father Poseidon, which is under attack from the Titan Oceanus. Poseidon sends Percy back to Camp Half-Blood to hear the “Great Prophecy,” despite his desire to assist in the fight. When Percy gets there, he tells the camp about the spy and learns that Typhon is fighting the Olympians.

Rick Riordan was raised in San Antonio, Texas, where he was born. He went to North Texas State University’s music program before graduating from Alamo Heights High School, where he studied to become a guitarist. He went on to study English and history at the University of Texas at Austin after transferring there.
